Believe it or don't, commuter rail is coming to Santa Fe and it's coming soon! The New Mexico Department of Transportation and Mid-Region Council of Governments are sponsoring a public information meeting for the New Mexico Rail Runner Project. This open house will feature informational displays, handouts, and project team representatives available to answer your questions from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30.

The open house meeting will provide updated information specific to several current project activities including:

  • Reconstruction of the Santa Fe Southern (SFS) corridor within Santa Fe. Construction on this segment will start in February.
  • The construction of train stations at the South Capitol Complex, Zia Road, and I-25 at NM 599. Preliminary information about station features, layout, and other information will be available.
  • Preliminary train operating schedules for startup commuter service in late 2008.
  • The status of activities to mitigate project impacts including prairie dog relocation efforts, noise monitoring, tree replacements, and other project commitments.
